Miguel Moreno GunaMiguel Moreno was born in  Lliria (Valencia) and began his music studies at the Banda Primitiva. Later on he continued them the Conservatorio Superior de Música in Valencia, finishing them at the  Real Conservatorio Superior de Música of Madrid. There he was awarded a Final Year Special Award for Tuba. He was one of the founders of J.O.N.D.E. (Spain’s National Youth Orchestra) and he has also played with the Royal Guard Band (Madrid, Spain). He has been professor of Tuba at the Real Conservatorio Superior de Música of Madrid since 1985. He is a collaborator with various orchestras such as the Spanish National Orchestra,  R.T.V.E., Sinfónica de Madrid, Comunidad de Madrid, Picardie Orchestra (France), etc.

He was a member of the metal quintet Madrid Brass with whom he recorded a CD which included his first composition "Danza Mediterránea".  He was also a member of the metal quintet Quoniam Brass and the Proyecto Guerrero (ex-Proyecto Gerhard), a group specializing in contemporary music.

In 1993 he toured Spain and Portugal with Zubin Metha and the Israel Philharmonic Orchestra. He is invited on a regular basis to teach both courses on tuba playing and master classes in Spain, Portugal and other European countries as well as Mexico.

He is a member of the S.G.A.E., the A.I.E., the T.U.B.A. and the WASBE.

Since 1996 he has been a member of the group The Sir Aligator's Company with whom in 1999 he recorded a CD entitled “En Directo” (Live). The group obtained the prize of  “Revelation group” in a rock category by the program Discópolis of Radio 3 (RNE). In July 1997 he was invited to be a jury member of  the International Tuba Conference  "Verso il Millennio" at Riva del Garda (Italy) in the category  "Street Music". In addition The Sir Alligator’s Company performed at that conference. He was Tuba professor at the J.O.N.D.E., the Student Symphonic Orchestra of the Comunidad de Madrid, the Youth symphonic band of Castilla-León, etc. He has recorded music with artists such  as  Xavier Paxariño o Estopa

He has participated in conducting courses with Enrique García Asensio and Miguel Angel Gómez Martínez at the University of Alcalá de Henares..

Amongst others he has played the tuba with  the following conductors: Jesús López Cobos, Aldo Ceccato, Sergiu Comissiona, Rafael Frübeck de Burgos,Manuel Galduf, Lorin Maazel, Enrique García Asensio, Adrian Leaper, etc.

Since 2002 he has been  the conductor of the Symphonic band and since 2004 conductor of the Wind Orchestra both of the Real Conservatorio Superior de Música of Madrid.

In 2004 The Sir Alligator´’s & Company recorded their second CD “Algo hay”  (There is something) featuring two of his own compositions.

He was invited to conduct  the Orquestra de Sopros de Troviscal (Portugal), in September 2004 and has been asked to collaborate with them in the future. In November 2004 he was appointed a juror for the
International Tuba competition Città di Pòrcia (Itàlia). He has also been invited to conduct the Orchestra de Extremadura, having already done so in April, November and December 2005.

In May 2005 he participated as conductor of the Banda Sinfónica del RCSM de Madrid in the XV Israelí Youth Band Festival obtaining first prize in all categories. In addition, he conducted some Israeli Bands.

In 2006 he was invited by the  Instituto de Cultura del Estado de Yucatán (Mexico) to carry out a concert tour as a conductor.  

In July of 2006 he conducted the summer meeting of the Orquesta Joven de Extremadura and its subsequent concert tour. 

He was invited to perform with "The Sir Aligator' s Company" at the International Tuba Conference held at Denver (Colorado) in June of 2006. 

He was appointed professor of Tuba for the academic year 2005/06 by the  Saint Louis University at their Madrid campus. 

In 2006 and 2007 he was a juror at the Yamaha Brass Quintet Competition, held in Madrid. 

In June of 2007 he conducted the State of Yucatan Youth Band (Mexico). 

He has given master classes at the Banda municipal of Pamplona, Vitoria and A Coruña. 

He was invited by Professor Gerard Buquet to give a tuba course (2007/08) at the Paris Conservatory of Music. 

In November 2008 he will again be a member of the jury for the International Tuba Contest Città di Porcia (Italy). 

He obtained the Diploma de estudios avanzados by the SEK University at Segovia.  Currently he is carrying out research for his doctoral thesis. 

In March  2008 he was appointed artistic director and principal conductor of the Ateneu Musical i d’Ensenyament Banda Primitiva de Llíria, Valencia, Spain
