Banda Primitiva: tradition and talent in every note

Banda Primitiva de Llíria - Sociedad Musical

The Banda Primitiva of Llíria, founded in 1819 by the Franciscan priest Fray Antoni Albarracín Enguídanos, is the oldest civilian band in Spain. In 1888, it participated for the first time in the Valencia Contest, where it won first prize, an award it has won on multiple occasions over the years.

Since its beginnings, the Banda Primitiva has offered countless concerts, cultural events and parades, touring practically all of Spain and performing in different European countries, such as Germany, Belgium, France, Holland and Switzerland, as well as in North America, in cities such as New York and Los Angeles, and in Asia, with performances in Beijing and Shanghai.

In addition to having its own conductors, it has been conducted by outstanding European maestros, among them Sergiu Celibidache, Desirée Dondaine, Odón Alonso, Rafael Frühbeck de Burgos, Jan Molenar, Luís Cobos, Manuel Galduf, Jan Cober and Plácido Domingo, who have contributed their talent and prestige to this centenary musical institution.
